Service Projects

  • “Habitat for Humanity – Build location is 1220 S. 34th Street, Kansas City
    Dates for building are: September 5-8; 13-15; and 27-29, 2007
    Shifts run from 8 am to noon and 1 to 5 pm; lunch provided for all volunteers
    No tools or skills required! Just your time and effort!”

  • Holiday Dinner for the Kids at TLC
    The Club served dinner to over 25 kids in residence at the TLC center. The event was sponsored by the Wal-Mart Foundation.
  • The Club helped sponsor and provided volunteers as Olathe Medical Center and other support groups provided over 100 free immunizations to the community.
  • Rotary Reader is a school year long project where Club members read to elementary school students in the Olathe School District. The service of the Club was presented with a Certificate of Recognition by the Olathe District Schools.
  • Spring Picnic for TLC Kids The Club sponsored, with the help of the Wal-Mart Foundation, a spring picnic, include food and games. The Club will be donated to TLC the following sporting goods: 2 basketballs 2 soccorballs 2 footballs (medium size) 2 V-balls 4 Regent Square balls 1 Racket set 1 Croquet set 1 Dominoes game set 1 Uno card game 1 set of cards 1 9 in 1 game set which includes: volley ball, bad minton, horse shoes, ring toss, flying disk, magic mitts, shuttle smash, lawn tennis and Jai-Lite.
  • On April 30th, Mike McVey attended the Senior Awards night at Olathe North High School and presented one of the four $750 college scholarships to senior, Miss Reilly Beard.
    • Rotarians volunteered in various roles for the Chautauqua West event at the historic Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm. The event was part of the Olathe 150th centennial celebration. The volunteers were coordinated by Dan Webster and Jerry Snider.
    • OmeletFest 2008 – September 27, 2007 Mahaffie Farmstead, Olathe, KS – Bev Wittenborn coordinated Rotarians whom prepared the omelets for a couple of hundred hungry event volunteers and community patrons who were working at or supporting the Wild West Days event at the Mahaffie Stage Coach Stop and Farmstead. Proceeds benefit the Mahaffie Foundation.
